Denise Gibbons has been organising and managing events for over 25 years. She began her career by getting involved in organising charity fundraising events for the nominated charity of Sir Robert McAlpine, a major construction firm in London, although working in the Technical Personnel Department at the time! Denise realised that this was an area of strong interest to her and, on her return to Edinburgh, she sought to explore this area of employment further.
She moved to Harrison Cowley and joined the Public Relations Department – a new area which was added to complement the advertising work within the agency. The events were many and varied – from fishing industry exhibitions to the re-opening of a Borders mill; for 4 people up to 1,000.
Denise continued to broaden her experience with work in the financial, legal and arts sectors. Eleven years were spent with the Scottish Arts Council before moving to Turcan Connell, Solicitors and Asset Managers.
Denise has organised events ranging from the official opening of Turcan Connell’s offices by HRH The Princess Royal to taking over Edinburgh Castle for a client reception; from private lunches or dinners for small numbers to awards ceremonies for hundreds; she has organised and managed theatre trips, track days, golf challenge days, parties, receptions, etc.
She has also worked with a number of high profile people, eg Dame Diana Rigg (Creative Scotland Awards), Charles Spencer and Andrew Marr (Edinburgh International Book Festival), Sir David Steel (re-opening of a Borders mill for a Harrison Cowley client), Martin Bell (Mercy Corps) and Janice Forsyth (Arts & Broadcasting Conference, Glasgow) – to name a few.
Denise has a vast number of contacts throughout Scotland and the UK. Denise has a passion for events, an eye for detail and a vivid imagination!
